Ringdale Supports FeliCa® Smart Card technology in Japan for FollowMe secure document output management solution
BURGESS HILL, United Kingdom, 6th August 2007, Ringdale, the pioneer and worldwide leader in secure document output management, today announced support for the de facto standard smart card technology in Japan to use with FollowMe®, its secure document output management solution. FollowMe utilizes different authentication methods to verify users’ identities before they can release their print jobs from any secure output device.
The Japanese smart card standard is based on the FeliCa® card system by Sony®, which contains a contactless radio frequency identification (RFID) chip. The system currently meets the ISO 18092 standard (Near Field Communication). It supports multiple files on a single card, enabling it to be used in a variety of different applications, one of which is output device management.
FollowMe is Ringdale’s all-in-one solution for enterprise output management and accounting. It provides secure and confidential printing in a “best of breed” office environment, independent of the make or model of printer or MFP. FollowMe allows external devices to authenticate users using a range of credentials, including smart cards, biometric fingerprint, proximity cards, PIN codes and magnetic swipe cards.
“FollowMe is the only secure document output management solution in the industry that supports such a wide range of authentication methods,” said Klaus Bollmann, chief executive officer, Ringdale. “Our goal is to ensure that organizations anywhere in the world have the ability to use FollowMe for their security, accountability and corporate sustainability strategies.”
